Yes, our approach is to have two different perspectives and styles that will capture the day in every way possible. We both work really well together and compliment each other’s style. It is also what makes us so unique since we see things so differently. We’ve found that this method is especially crucial if anything were ever to go wrong with someone’s equipment, etc.
We’ve heard way too many horror stories and don’t want to take our chances with just one of us being there!
If for any reason one of us is not available, whether it is because of a serious illness, hospitalization, death, etc., we are very fortunate to be a part of many photography organizations and photographers groups in our area. In this case we would reach out to our extensive group of connections and find someone of the same skill level and style to fulfill the missing person’s shoes. As photographers, we join these groups with the expectation that our services could be needed and that we might have to step up to help a fellow industry partner, so we are confident that many photographers would step up to the challenge and support us as well. Some of the organizations we are members of include The PPA (Professional Photographers of America) and The Photo Betties (a group of professional women photographers in the Tri-State area).
Yes and Yes. We are Canon shooters and are well equipped with all of the latest equipment and technology needed to be professional photographers along with back up equipment, batteries and plenty of memory cards! We also have liability insurance, which most wedding venues require from vendors using their facility. This proof of insurance can be sent to the venue via email or fax by request.
Weddings are the type of events that many people book at least a year in advance. So in order for us to guarantee that we will block that day for you, we require a desposit and in exchange we sign a contract legally binding us to you and your date. Our deposits are not an additional fee on top of the package price, it is simply a percentage of the balance that would be due for our services anyway – typically 30% of the selected package total. For Portrait sessions, we require a 50% deposit of your session price to secure a day and time for your shoot.

In shortened terminology the Webster definition of photojournalism basically translates to news photography. Now, while it’s quite obvious that we are not news photographers or shooting “The News”, the term has loosely become related to Wedding Photography in recent years because it has opened up a different approach to shooting on the day of the wedding. Back in the day, due to the limitations of equipment and film it was a very mechanical process in shooting weddings, and a lot of the events of the day would have to be staged or posed. When technology advanced and photographers began to expand creatively, it became clear that photographers were able to photograph the day in more of a “fly on the wall” point of view. They could now be unobtrusive and photograph the events as they unfolded rather then yell things like, “Ok now stop right there and smile at the camera!” We have some very influential photographers to thank for this new revolution in Wedding Photography.
For us personally, we have adapted this “fly on the wall” strategy and try to be noticed as least as possible on the day of the wedding, except when we need to be more present and assertive, like during family formals, etc. And with our distinct commercial and design influences, we aren’t just shooting to document the day, we are also shooting in a way that we know will lend itself better to the design of the final products and wedding album. So in conclusion, this photojournalistic style allows us to shoot candidly in order to tell the story, in our own way.
There are many descriptions that you will read throughout this site that hint at what our style is and help us explain why we shoot the way we do. So forgive us for the repetition but here you will learn what all that means and how it relates to you as our client. In case you missed the About Us section we will just give you a brief Introduction to our backgrounds and jump right into our personal style.
Noelle has a traditional background in Academic Photography while Nicole has experience in Advertising and Commercial Photography. This makes our partnership very unique. We both have a very different approach to shooting that has a way of finding its way back to each other to form a cohesive and visual story. This means that while Noelle strives to capture the raw emotions of the day, Nicole may be shooting in a way that appeals to the design aesthetic. It is also incredibly valuable to have two of us shooting simultaneously. Everything about weddings fly by and having each of us in different places allows us to shoot everything as it’s happening all at once. So basically we’re like Ninjas… with cameras!
Aside from the logistical advantage of having both of us shooting, there is a distinct style of shooting from each of us that is clearly defined even when shooting side by side. Nicole has a commercially trained eye which means that she is looking for a visual representation of the entire scene or thinking about how she is going to incorporate the image into the design of the album or a piece of wall art. While Noelle will be shooting in a traditionally trained manner, focusing on the very basic elements of photography that make images so simple and beautiful. Whether it’s the composition of the subjects in the frame or how the subjects enhance their environment, it comes down to an innate style of shooting. Then when we process the images in post, the style of processing and digital stylizing helps to bring these different shooting techniques together.
As you can see just from looking through our site, we have many different styles of processing of our images. This is mainly because we really try to hone in on each couple’s personal style that they have brought to their wedding theme. There are things about every wedding that can correspond to the photographs and how they are processed on the computer. Whether it is very bright and bold color schemes or a very whimsical and vintage-y feel to a wedding, we have the expertise and ability to incorporate these unique processing styles to each wedding. It truly comes down to us learning about you and what your vision is for your wedding day. We are open to listening as well as educating our clients on how this process works so we can make sure that the end result is total satisfaction!
