Just days after after the ball dropped and rang in the new year, we kicked off our 2012 wedding season with an engagement session with these two love birds.  On a surprisingly warm and beautiful Saturday afternoon, we ventured around hitting many of Queens’ signature spots: the Unisphere in Flushing Meadows, Five Pointz, and Gantry State Park in Long Island City. Born and raised in Queens, a strictly “Queens shoot” was a sentimental day for James and Tanya. The many hidden gems this borough has to offer really brought out their creative, laid-back styles and gave us great insight to the loads of fun we’ll be having when we shoot their wedding in June!  There was no shortage of hugs, kisses, joking, laughing and playing – things that make our job so easy. These two were simply smitten with each other and excited to start their married life together – and we are thrilled to be sharing in that experience with them soon!

Last year was incredible. So incredible, that we’re just able to collect ourselves to talk about it now. We’ve had the great privilege in working with some of the kindest, fun, and energetic brides, grooms, children, babies and mommies-to-be. It truly was a blast for us and we can’t thank all of our clients enough for their love and support.

Now on to the exciting news we’ve been anxiously awaiting to announce to everyone. With a lot of hard work and dedication, we are happy to kick off the new year with our new website and blog!! While we still had a soft spot for our old site, it was time to give the home of Femina a little bit of a facelift. We did this for a few reasons: For one (as some of you techies out there know) our visibility wasn’t the best when it came to products that didn’t support flash. While flash is great in certain instances, it just wasn’t working for us anymore. This new platform will allow us to have greater control, and more control means more updates and being able to show off our latest and greatest super quick for all of you out there. One of our other big reasons for the switch was that we no longer wanted our blog in the “garage” of the Femina house. Now it is resides directly within the new site, which makes it feel nice and cozy. Within our blog, you’ll still find the categories now located along the top, each of which will bring you to a “visual category page” so you can search and browse using your eyeballs. We think it’s a nice touch, and we hope you do too. So take a look around the new Blog, and around the rest of the house! And be sure to come back soon because we have some awesome deals coming up!!

Nevertheless, everything turned out perfectly and without so much as a glitch! Even the unpredictable December weather cooperated and it turned out to be a mildly cool day with beautiful blue skies and a clear view of Manhattan over the river. Oh! Let’s not forget the awesome location of the venue, Highlawn Pavillion, set atop one of the highest points on the Eagle Rock Reservation. Breathtaking! We were absolutely thrilled to work with such a laid back couple and their wonderful families. A special thanks to MOB Jane, who worked with us every step of the way from the scheduling, rescheduling, planning and day of logistics. We couldn’t have planned it any better ourselves!

On yet another gorgeous October day, we leisurely strolled around the gardens with Mark and Christina. It only took these two about 30 seconds to get into the groove of things, happily holding hands, giggling, hugging, snuggling and kissing. The chemistry of love is such a wonderful thing, and when paired with warm sunshine and an array of colors, we really couldn’t ask for a better way to spend the day. Congratulations you two! We can’t wait to do it all over again next September!

Their wedding and reception took place in the Poconos, which in late October is absolutely AMAZING! When we were driving on the back roads on the way to scout out their reception site at Woodloch Pines, we were “ooo-ing” and “aaah-ing” over all the pretty colors of the trees and were really excited to be able to work with such vibrant colors. As you’ll see we scouted out the locations specifically to incorporate the different color palettes Autumn had to offer this year.

When it came to the details for the “day-of”, Amy had a clear vision for her classic, yet whimsical autumn wedding and wanted everything to fit perfectly. Luckily, Nicole understood this vision and was thrilled to work with her on making this vision come to life – starting with their invitation suite. Below are some shots of their completed invitation suite. The next and last design element we worked with them on were mini wine labels! However, you’ll have to wait for their wedding pictures to see these…

Noelle recently had the opportunity to shoot one of her closest friends, Giuseppina and some of her family together. We decided to do the shoot in celebration of her youngest sibling’s first birthday. So she rounded up the troops to photograph her brothers altogether along with her dad and his wife. With some great light on a beautiful fall day she would say it was a huge success!

It is worth mentioning that there are two other little ones not photographed here from her mom and stepdad’s side of the family but they are also very near and dear to her heart! We’ll have to arrange for that portrait session to happen sometime in the near future as well.
