This Cairnwood Estate wedding is definitely one we’ll never forget! With the crazy weather we’ve had lately in the North East, we really didn’t know what to expect for Candace and Sean’s big day. Just the week before it hit almost 70 degrees, so we were hopeful that the warm weather would stick around! Of course in true March fashion, the temps dropped and we had a bit of a surprise that day with a snowy, wintry-mix instead. However, our couple Candace and Sean braved the freezing temps so we were able to get some beautifully romantic portraits of the two of them on the grounds of the old Estate.
We started the day with some getting ready images at Cairnwood (a home built in the 19th Century for the Pitcairn family). One of the reasons we love shooting at Cairnwood Estate is because the bridal suite and groom’s suite are right down the hall from one-another, making the getting ready process and coordination very easy. We just had to make sure the groom didn’t escape the groom’s suite while we were shooting the dress in the great stairwell! After starting the morning with them, we headed over to The Immaculate Conception church for the ceremony where Candace and Sean saw each other for the first time as she was escorted by her father down the aisle (a long anticipated moment for these two!). Little did we know the surprise we’d get after the ceremony though, a complete white-out of snow! Thankfully it wasn’t really sticking so it didn’t affect our transportation and getting back to the venue. Candace and Sean took it in stride and we were able to grab some portraits of them right as the sun was setting, in that oh-so-perfect golden light. We couldn’t have asked for better timing!!
The night only continued to get better as these two really know how to throw a party, with their friend and family dancing the night away in the great hall. We really couldn’t have asked for a better couple to share this experience with and we wish them so many years of love and happiness together!!
