We recently had the wonderful privilege of capturing Jamie + Josh’s beautiful wedding at the The Rockleigh in Rockleigh, New Jersey. There were many months of anticipation and excitement leading up to Jamie and Josh’s big day! We first had the pleasure of photographing this duo for their engagement session last summer and it was clear from that first session that they had great chemistry together and were going to make our job so easy! They joined their family and friends at The Rockleigh for a beautiful Jewish ceremony (with a traditional Tisch and Bedeken beforehand). It’s an age-old pre-ceremony ritual where the groom reviews the details of his contract (Ketubah) and accepts the terms during the Tisch before going to see his bride for her veiling, where she receives words of love and advice from her closest family and friends during the Bedeken. We love this tradition as it can be intimate and emotional for everyone involved. It truly brings their close friends and family together in celebration of the couple!
While mother nature was being wishy-washy that day and a bit unpredictable, we were fortunate enough to do all of the Couple and Wedding Party portraits outside, taking advantage of all the estate grounds had to offer. However, we weren’t as lucky for the ceremony since downpours rolled in just beforehand, but luckily The Rockleigh provided another option for an indoor ceremony. Their exchange of vows was just as meaningful though as everyone joined them under the wedding Huppah. We love the tradition of the seven blessings on the couple and then the smashing of the glass (which Josh was sure to practice for ahead of time, ha!). Then Jamie and Josh continued the celebration with their guests in the grand ballroom of The Rockleigh. To say the ballroom is breath-taking would be an understatement. The room is filled with what seems like an endless amount of crystal chandeliers, providing gorgeous lighting and a beautiful backdrop for their reception. And we LOVED that this crew came ready to party! We were able to steal the couple away for a few night shots in front of the reflecting pool in the grand pavilion though and those are definitely some of our favorite shots of the day!
