{Nicole}: Last weekend we were honored when Sage Catering, one of our favorite caterers, asked us to join in their open house taking place at the breath-taking Appleford Estate. Despite the snowy weather we experienced the night before, future brides and their fiancés came from all over to take a look around the estate, visit some of the wedding vendors, and of course, try all the delicious goodies Liz and Greg Shockley’s team from Sage Catering had cookin’ in the country, cottage-style kitchen. Below are some of the vendors that joined in the open house festivities:

A top 10 winner in Philly’s Hotlist for Best Caterers, these guys know how to bring the heat. Their food is understated and utterly delish – a perfect compliment to Appleford’s ambiance and charm. Noelle and I were lucky enough to share (and devoured) their Sea Bass and Steak. (Darby, shown below is Sage’s Event Coordinator and the sweet girl attributed to our joining in the party).

… Of course, we proceded to wash down our Sea Bass with some mouth-watering chocolate cake! Chad, the representative and son of this 40-year old family owned and operated business won us over with the heartwarming stories of a family run business, which also happens to be one of the top choices in WeddingWire’s Bride’s Choice Awards for wedding cakes, not to mention another Philly Top 10 winner.
3. Fleur De Lis | view site
Lead floral designer, Margaux St. Ledger, filled the rooms of the Estate with lush, and romantic floral arrangements and centerpieces. Her work has been featured in Chester County LIFE, and the Knot Pennsylvania, and it’s easy to see why.
4. Appleford Estate | view site
Although the weekend weather blanketed the Estate’s grounds in white, fluffy stuff, the scenery and house itself was nothing short of breath-taking. Laurie, Appleford’s Executive Director, welcomed us with open arms and talked us through how the venue looks during the rest of the year. In the springtime, this 300 year-old farmhouse located in Villanova, PA, is surrounded by 24 acres surrounded by blossoming trees, gardens, stone paths, and streams – a beautiful backdrop to any wedding!
5. Femina Photo + Design’s Table | the chocolate and shoe obsessed ladies of the day
Below is a shot of our table where we got the chance to chat with future brides, their fiancés, and parents. There’s nothing we love more than seeing the excitement come over their eyes when they’re sharing their wedding plans with us. Thanks to all that stopped by to meet us! For those of you who signed up for our “Free Mini Album” drawing, we’ll be announcing the winners soon!
